As 2017 commences, WHATSAPP stops working for millions of users by the end of December.
In case you were hoping the company will have a change of heart, I am very sorry to disappoint you as the company pulled the plug on a number of mobile platforms. Those running an old Nokia, iPhone or android devices should look for an upgrade as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, 2017 might not be off to the best of starts for millions of WhatsApp users. The world’s most popular messaging app, which presently boasts more than one billion active users, has confirmed that it will end support for a number of aging smartphones operating systems – leaving millions unable to send or receive messages, create GIFs, video chats or make VOIP phone calls or within the Facebook-owned chat app.
“Reason was that the market share for these devices is quite low”
“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.”
However, WhatsApp updated its initial blog post confirming that it will extend support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017, which is good news for some of the users.
Here is a list of devices that will no longer support WhatsApp –
- Any device running Android 2.1
- Any device running Android 2.2
- Windows Phone 7
- iPhone 3GS
- Any device running iOS 6
- Blackberry Devices.
Is Anyone using any of the stated devices??
